Koresh 14 is a railway housing built in the 1950's by the architect Abba Elhanani and represents the modernist housing from the period when Jerusalem took a break from stone architecture. Its unique character and form of construction indicate an architectural concept that takes into account the relationships of the neighbors and the community within it. The building is located between the Old City and the New City and was one of the first buildings erected on the Israel-Jordan border at the time. The building has four entrances and exits — from the four ends of Jerusalem, and shows how a residential building expands its function and also becomes a crossroads, a meeting point. In the main façade, the artist Yigal Tumarkin created a concrete sculpture as an integral part of the building.

The choice of building as a space for artistic and cultural occurrence is not accidental. The various facades, entrances and exits, the wandering experience it allows, as if you were lost in a huge structure with different levels, high and exposed walls, marble columns and concrete platforms. All of these are the source of inspiration for an innovative artistic space that evokes a dialogue between high art and life itself in the most private place: the home.

The gallery emphasizes innovative projects and exhibitions that bridge between canonical art and young and contemporary art. The gallery is located in the heart of the building, between a dental clinic and those in need of a synagogue and operates out of a desire to bring art to everyday life and allow random encounters between people and art and culture. The gallery combines artistic, cultural and social content, and emerges out of a belief in the importance of the art field alongside a cultural discourse that stems from a multidisciplinary approach to culture and art in its various components.

"It all started when I finished my art studies at Bezalel and found myself alone, without conversation, without colleagues and without the incubator that Bezalel provided me. No one called me and the world waiting for me outside was not exactly what I imagined. The need for something to happen burned in me, "After a long searchable space, and just like in the great stories of life, I came home after a long day of searching, stopping in the middle of the building, surrounded by concrete walls and a huge space for action. That was the moment I realized, it's here — at home, in Koresh 14."
